Courts recognize that training is an important component of an effective HR practice. Managers must understand pitfalls in order to avoid them. Understanding one's limitations as a manager or supervisor and the value of securing assistance of the HR manager or other experts, including outside counsel, will often define the outcome of a grievance or other legal challenge.
