Les Smith was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a senior partner at the firm. In April 2009, Best Lawyers in America® honored him for his extraordinary accomplishments during their 25th Anniversary Celebration. He is one of 1,397 lawyers who have been listed in the publication since it began rating lawyers in 1983. He has also been selected for inclusion to the Super Lawyers® listing of outstanding lawyers. This honor has been attained from high peer recognition and professional achievement.
Les has taught labor law for the University of Maryland and Lewis & Clark Law School. Les was a trial attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in 1965 and from 1969-1973. Les served as a Troop Commander and JAG Officer in the U.S. Army during 1966-1969. He was formerly a Chairperson of the Oregon State Bar Section on Labor Relations.
In the community Les has served on a variety of Boards and organizations. Among these include:
