Kent Pearson, a shareholder with the firm, has broad experience representing employers in the area of labor and employment law, with an emphasis in wage and hour matters, traditional labor issues, administrative hearings, and day-to-day advice. Kent also works in the area of employment agreements, plant-closings, and employer policies. He has represented employers in litigated disputes in state and federal courts, as well as disputes involving the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, the Washington Public Employee Relations Commission, and the U.S. Department of Labor, among others.
Kent is a regular contributor to national employment publications, and also speaks on labor and employment topics including presentations to industry groups such as the Oregon Auto Dealers Association and Portland Human Resource Management Association. Kent has also spoken on wage and hour topics at employer seminars presented by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.
Kent, a North Carolina native, was introduced to Portland during a summer law clerkship. After graduating from law school, Kent returned to Portland to start his legal career. Kent is an occasional bike commuter who enjoys a variety of outdoor activities in his spare time including rowing, cycling and trail running.
