David Thompson’s practice focuses on labor relations and employment advice to public and private employers, including bargaining, labor contract administration, employee relations, discipline and discharge, practice before state and federal agencies, workplace training seminars, and preventive law/risk management. David has been listed in Oregon Super Lawyers as a Rising Star since 2008; and was runner up in the Portland Business Journal 40 Under Forty in 2011.
David Thompson, a resident of Portland, Oregon, graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science degree (Psychobiology) and a Bachelor of Arts degree (Spanish) in 2001. David received his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University in 2005. Upon graduation, David received the Public Interest Award and Endowed Scholarship for Outstanding Graduate Pursing a Career in Labor and Employment Law. He served as a summer extern for the Honorable Judge James Ware, United States District Court, Northern California and worked at the San Jose Community Law Center Employment Advice Clinic. David is currently attending University of Oregon to obtain a Masters in Business Administration.
Beyond his professional life, David enjoys spending time with his family. David is also actively involved in the community including serving on the Santa Clara University Board of Regents, the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Board of Directors, the Connector Project Chair, and the Portland Business Alliance Public Policy Committee. He supports numerous locally based non-profits including the Morrison Child and Family Services, Friends of the Children, Black Parent Initiative, Community Transitional School, Jesuit High School, and St. Francis of Assisi Dining Hall. David is also a “Big Brother” mentor through Neighborhood House.
David enjoys the outdoors, sports, cooking, books and live music.
